Shift4 UTG (Universal Transaction Gateway) is payment-processing middleware that connects applications such as Execu/Suite PMS and POS to Shift4 payment services and supported payment terminals. UTG manages communication with payment devices, securely routes transaction requests and responses, and provides the interface used for functions such as authorizations, sales, refunds, voids, and tokenized card transactions.
