Prior to setting up work codes, click the "Settings" button at the top left of the Word Code Maintenance screen.

Enter the day of the week that the pay period begins.  Enter 1 for Sunday, 2 for Monday, etc.  If you use Execu/Tech's Payroll and Time & Attendance import, the pay period begin day must match your payroll settings.

If you use Execu/Tech's Employee Scheduling module, enter the clock-in grace period (in minutes) and the clock-out grace period (in minutes) if you wish to allow this.

If you wish the time & attendance module to calculate daily overtime, answer Y to this question.  Otherwise the system will calculate time over 40 hours per work week as overtime, per law.

After you have completed the settings you will enter the work codes.

The beginning code is 00 and the continue from there.  You cannot change the numbers.  However, you can enter the descriptions and other information to correspond to the code you wish.

You may enter any "Description" you wish.  In the example above, CHEF is the description for work code 02.

In the "Tips" (POS) column, answering Y will prompt the employee for "declared tips" at clock-out.  N will omit this prompt.

In the pay rate column you may enter the hourly pay rate for each applicable work code.  However, you may leave this blank and enter the pay rates individually for employees in Employee Records .

Click the "Save" button when you are finished.
