Software Update without Download

We will install your software updates.  We will always contact you first and schedule them according to your convenience.  Note: Updates are scheduled only between 10:00am and 3:00pm Central Time, Monday through Thursday.  If your IT professional would like to install the updates, you may contact Execu/Tech to make arrangements. 

The best way to install Execu/Tech software updates is by running ETUpdate.exe. See Software Updates. This application will back up your current programs and files, and then download and install updates. However, if your network's security settings do not allow downloads, you will have to install the updates using the procedures listed below. If you are not a network professional, you should not do this.

 

 

 Before installing the updates, make sure ALL users are logged completely out of Execu/Tech, and that they stay out until you are finished.


 

Step 1 Schedule the updates with Execu/Tech Support.  A one-day Update Key will be provided. Contact Execu/Tech Support to provide an acceptable location to place Update.zip, which contains the program updates. Execu/Tech may also provide a new updater.
Step 2
Open the Executech Hotel folder on the server. This is where the PMS is located.  Download or copy Update.zip into the Executech Hotel folder.  If you were provided a separate ETUpdate.zip, extract it into the Executech Hotel folder.
Step 3
In the Executech Hotel folder, look for a folder called download (not downloads.)  If you do not see a download folder, create one.
Step 4
In the Executech Hotel folder, find ETUpdate.exe. Right-click and select Run as Administrator.
Step 5

When the Software Updater opens, do the following:

  1. Select the components to update (per instructions from Execu/Tech.)  DO NOT check Runtime, unless advised.
  2. Check "Use 'update.zip' from \update folder."

  3. Enter the Update key provided by Execu/Tech. This key is good only for the day your updates are scheduled.
  4. Select Next.

Step 6
Enter the name of your hotel in the Customer Name field.  Select Next.
Step 7
The updater will begin. You may see a couple of popups. A message will notify you when it is finished.
Step 8
When the process is complete, a browser window will open with the results. If you do not have IT enabled, you will not see this.
Step 9

After you have installed all updates, you should do the following:  (Failure to perform these tasks can result in error or problems.)

  • Run ETRegister (Register Programs and Controls ) for ALL users and remote desktop client users
  • Print sample POS credit card receipts. The format has changed. To change it back, open MENUINI.FIL in the Hotel Folder and add the line: POS-RECEIPTTEXT=NO

  • Print a folio and registration form. You should not see anything different unless you are updating from a very old system. If there is a problem, contact Execu/Tech.

  • Test all functions of the system. Do this prior to peak service if possible. As with any software update, you may see changes in the look or functionality. If you have questions or see a message you do not understand, please contact Execu/Tech.

 

Detailed Instructions:

  • From the Execu/Suite drop-down menu:  File > Special > Register Programs and Controls.
  • From the Execu/Touch POS Administrator menu:  System > Register Programs and Controls.

     
  • From the Executech Hotel folder.  Run ETRegister.exe as administrator.
