Microsoft .NET Framework

Our application makes use of the Microsoft .NET Framework. On some systems, you might find that the latest .NET Framework is not installed or that certain assemblies are missing. This is often because required components of Microsoft Office or 3rd party assemblies are missing.

 

We have applications that use both the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and 4.7.1.

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

Windows Vista and Windows 7
Windows Vista and Windows 7 have Net 3.0 pre-installed which also includes 2.0.

Windows XP
Windows XP does not come pre-installed with any version of .NET. If you're still running computers with Windows XP, you should consider upgrading.
Install this if you have Windows XP Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 

  Windows 8, Windows 10, Server 2012, and Server 2016
Windows 8, Windows 10, Server 2012, and Server 2016, version 3.5, which also includes 2.0, is pre-installed but NOT ENABLED. You will need to enable it.

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 and 4.7.1

Microsoft .NET 4.7.1 is required by Shift4 and Vantiv EMV in order to support TLS 1.2. 
TLS 1.2 Requirements

Windows 8, Windows 10, Server 2012, Server 2016
Windows 8, Windows 10, Server 2012, and Server 2016 version 4.5 was pre-installed which also includes 4.0.
You will need to install 4.7.1
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1

Windows Vista, 7, and Server 2008
Windows Vista, 7, and Server 2008 will still need to install 4.7.1, which includes 4.0.
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1

  If you're still running computers with Windows XP or Server 2003 (All Versions), you should consider upgrading. Microsoft will not be releasing any more .NET Framework versions for Windows XP or Server 2003 (All Versions). 
Windows XP Support Ends
Server 2003 Support Ends

You can still install version 4.0 on Windows XP.
